Maltfabrikken

The original malt factory was founded in 1861 and until the closure in 1998, malt was produced at the factory. Thereafter, the buildings fell into disrepair and a transition was threatened by demolition. At the citizen-driven zealot initiative, the Malt Factory was taken over by a newly established foundation, with the aim of raising funds for a thorough restoration and rebuilding. The malt factory was to re-emerge as Peoples Factory – a place for art, culture and entrepreneurship.

Today it houses the restaurant Lundbergs Spisehus, Brewpubben, event and concert venue Kulturloft and opposite in the big building it  houses the library, museum and local archive together called BMA, the shop Champangne Pony Club, and latest but not least,  creative entrepreneurs are gathered at M8. In a third building there’s been establish an international Artist in Residence. The place is a lively meeting point at the center of Ebeltoft.
